As a rule, Tales from my Sofa does not like zoos. In his view, they smell and it is cruel to the animals.

San Diego Zoo is the exception. The animals actually look happy and seem pleased to see the visitors.

The big animals are the main attractions, but the Meerkats give them a run for their money on the popularity stakes.

Everyone loves Meerkats and yet TFMS knows not why. Everyone simply does.

Arrive early and you will see the animals being fed. Arrive any later and they will all be having their afternoon nap. As will you, after you have walked the 100 acres and seen the 3000-odd animals.
